Examples of “mass customization” turn up every day; and I’ve discovered yet another one!

Today I wanted to take advantage of a nice little benefit for holders of “registered” Starbucks cards - a free refill! But first I had to make sure my card was registered. Doing so I discovered a great new service - customizable Starbucks cards!

Using a simple interface with templates offering choices of designs and background texture, a short (!!) headline and a message block, and a message block on the paper sleeve, I was able to create my own card.

I’ve been looking for a nice way to say “Thanks” to people in a special way and I can use this for “one off” business gifts.

Simple, easy, and only a $4 “customization” fee - now that’s within my reach.
