Projectors Get Smaller
Not so very long ago, if you wanted hook a projector to your laptop for a presentation, you had to haul around a piece of equipment that was so big it was guaranteed to give you back spasms. Digital projectors are shrinking faster and faster, and now there is the Pico Projector.
Microvision - a company located practically in the shadow of the Microsoft campus in Redmond WA - is coming out with the PicoP, an ultra miniature projector that can deliver full color, high-resolution images. The PicoP is small enough now to be embedded into a tiny peripheral that connects to a mobile phone, but may someday actually be built into it.
While the cute little pocket-sized projector - possibly selling for $200-$300 - is really cool. I’m waiting for the projector-enabled phone!
Just short of a year ago, Microvision announced an agreement with Motorola to develop a projector-enabled cell phone, and at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year (CES 2008) the PicoP Projector drew a lot of attention.
