Paper Sculptures - No Ink In Sight!
Documents have been my focus for nearly two decades - their creation, distribution, and use. These paper sculptures are not “documents” in the traditional sense and have no printed text on them; however they are certainly a form of communication!
Peter Callesen, paper sculptor, takes a sheet of paper and turns it into a 3-dimensional sculpture that reflects its previous 2-dimensionality. Take a look at these beautiful, ethereal, and moving pieces on his website, here>>
My paper works have lately been based around an exploration of the relationship between two and three dimensionality. I find this materialization of a flat piece of paper into a 3D form almost as a magic process - or maybe one could call it obvious magic, because the process is obvious and the figures still stick to their origin, without the possibility of escaping. 3D Injet printing is a fascinating world and not limited to paper sculptures.
3D printers typically work by ‘printing’ successive layers building a 3D object.
Inkjet printing system using fine powder (plaster, corn starch, or resins) allows for the printing of full color prototypes. Some machines deposit liquids through the inkjet forming the part.
