Touch Technology V2.0

I love the new touch screen technology! In January, I linked to a video of Jeff Han’s giant touch screen application (scroll down and you’ll see the link). This month at CeBIT 2008 in Hanover, Germany, getting your hands - both hands! - into your work is one step closer to reality.

While a number of bloggers referred to this as a “Minority Report-like interface,” I think it turns Han’s work into real applications. Once again, this you have to see! Trade show exhibits will never be the same… (Read the article)

Is the Book Dead or Alive?

Three days at OnDemand Expo in Boston this week had me checking out the latest digital printing equipment, book binding equipment, and publishing software. Some pretty amazing machines out there! Xerox, Océ, Canon, Kodak - all offer printers/presses that make books on demand a reality.

Print is DeadAlthough it’s possible to print a book pretty much any time and anywhere, or even not print it at all - as in an e-book - perhaps we should ask ourselves, “to book or not to book? That is the question.” (Sorry, Will…) (Read the article)
